Come to the British Professional Photography Awards

Spread the love

On October 19th 2008, the annual British Professional Photography Awards dinner will be held at the Hilton NewcastleGateshead hotel – a very modern Hilton in the heart of the South Bank arts district of Tyneside, a short walk from the historic Castle district of Newcastle.

During the day, from 10.30am to 4.00pm, the public is invited to come and view the 100 and more 20 x 16 exhibition images shortlisted for the Awards.

Alongside the print exhibition, there is a small trade show which offers a chance to speak personally with some of the leading manufacturers. Since they are sponsoring awards (for the most part) their directors and most senior staff are involved – this is not the same as a local dealer show managed by the regional field sales rep!

Exhibitors are:

Hasselblad UK Ltd
Graphistudio
Loxley Colour
Spicer Hallfield
Nikon UK Ltd
Sim2000 Imaging
Colorworld Imaging
Photo Training Overseas
Epson UK Ltd
Parker Albums/Mario Acerboni
Lastolite (JP Solutions)
Broncolor (JP Solutions)
Express Digital
Photologic (UK) Ltd
Camerashield Insurance
GF Smith

Sony will be providing rapid printing systems for a studio operated by Keith Trainor, which will provide photographs of guests and visitors in the evening, all proceeds being donated to the charity PACE.

For more information about the Awards, and how to join the Master Photographers Association which is responsible for staging the event jointly with the BIPP, call MPA on 01325 356555 or email [email protected]. MPA is open to full time professionals only, and has branches in the Republic of Ireland, the Netherlands, Malta and Singapore in addition to its main UK membership.

All members are also given free membership of Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) and qualify to receive WPPI’s monthly magazine, The Rangefinder, for a flat rate of just $40 to anywhere in the world, per annum. MPA subscription already includes the magazine Master Photo Digital ten times a year, from the UK; the combination of the two provides an international resource for all social market professional photographers.
