PTO goes to Egypt for 2009

The twenty second annual Photo Training Overseas will take place in the beautiful resort area of Taba in Egypt. Course dates: 27 January – 3 February 2009.

This promises to be the most stunning location to date, set at the far end of the Gulf of Aqaba on the Red Sea just below Eilat and opposite Jordan. Close to the Sinai Mountains with Cairo and Jordans “Red Rose City” of Petra within touring distance.

The hotel is the Sofitel at Taba Heights it is well equipped, luxurious and modern with interesting architectural features. All rooms are sea facing, generously proportioned and decorated in Egyptian style.

Everyone who attends will be on “all-inclusive” which means you can effectively eat and drink as much food and alcohol as the body can absorb in a week.

The speaker line-up is an interesting mix of well known practitioners from both the UK and overseas interspersed with exciting new talent. One thing is guaranteed – delegates will be considerably more knowledgeable at the end of the training week than when they left these shores.

Landscape photography will be covered by the ‘Doyen’ of this subject CHARLIE WAITE of ‘Land and Light’ fame. JIM LOWE will enlighten delegates on the finer points of Architectural photography whilst LIESBETH DAVIDSE from The Netherlands will enthrall with her imaginative take on her fashion style of portraiture. From the USA we have JANE CONNER – ZIESER sponsored by the SWPP who is a Master Craftsman in Digital Art and an accomplished teacher. DAVE WALL will keep everyone on their toes bestowing the virtues of RAW and demonstrating Adobe Lightroom. Weddings are well catered for with Ireland’s new supremo the outstandingly creative PAUL CALLAGHAN whilst the UK’s brightest star KELLY HEARN will open minds with her unusual posing ideas. Completing the star studded line-up is LESLEY WOOD from Cheshire a relative newcomer on the scene who has become a specialist in photographing children outdoors.

Regular features, such as evening seminars with different speakers on business related subjects, the popular print competition with superb trophies and the lively trade show remain in place. All this will combine with opportunities to shoot images using PTO models plus a glittering awards event and optional cultural trip at the end of the week.
