Fujifilm Professional has announced the winner of its ‘Views on Velvia’ photographic competition. Barney Wilczak was awarded first prize and he will be shortly enjoying a photographic holiday-of-a-lifetime to Turkey, courtesy of Light & Land. The judges were Charlie Waite from Light & Land, Damien Demolder from Amateur Photographer magazine and Jerry Deeney from Fujifilm.

‘Views on Velvia’ was run by Fujifilm Professional in conjunction with Light & Land Photographic Holidays to celebrate the re-launch of Fujichrome Velvia 50. There were almost 1,000 entries to the competition and each one was captured on Fujichrome Velvia.

Charlie Waite was impressed by the entries: “I was overwhelmed by the number of photographers who entered Views on Velvia. It has confirmed that Velvia is very much alive and well! The many landscape photographers who were brought up on Velvia have clearly chosen to stay with it for its saturation and fine grain characteristics. The winning image carried with it all the pathos, gravitas and drama that an image of this nature should have. It fully deserved to scoop the first prize.”
